No Reverse Lights

Hi I have a 1.6 LX on a P reg. The reverse lights suddenly stopped working and I have checked the bulbs, fuses etc which are all ok. Someone told me that the problem may be that the reverse switch needs replacing - I have bought this part but cannont seem to locate it? Any suggestions please where to locate this part or other suggestions as to what the problem may be. Many thanks Jackie :banghead:

Just look for a couple of wires running to your transmission and follow them.

Thanks - tried this but still can't locate a part that even resembles the part I have bought - I'm just wondering now whether the guy has given me the wrong part as it does not specify which part it is on the box, just automotive components. The part that I have just looks like a very large bolt with a 2 point connector at the end which is covered in plastic - does that sound right? Erm........excuse my explanations.......bit of a technophobic aswell :screwy:

What year is your Escort?

the switch is on top of the transmission on my moms '89... You might try there to start with...
