I just bought the truck yesterday day from a friend.... He was pulling a boat and noticed the temp was getting hot so turned off the A/C temp went down turned it bak on because it was 120 degrees out and drove like that. it did not over heat but got hot few minuites later the a/c stopped and put out hot air the dealer said it was a bad water pump so I bought the truck thinging no big deal and decided to do it myself. I just took it apart and noticed that on the A/C compressor pulley there is a metal peice that extends out on the front of the pulley next to the belt almost like it keeps the belt fron slipping off? it was bent and broke apart from the pulley but still on there could the A/c compressor be the problem and not the water pump? has anybody heard of the A/C cutting out when the engine gets hot? Hope it's not too expensive to fix I am going to swap out the waterpump tonight just incase.

Welcome to your first post on AF.
It sounds like you may have two seperate problems.
Fix the engine running hot first.
The have a repair shop look at the air cond pulley.
Could just be a bad air cond clutch or the compresser bad or even more.
Good Luck MT
