I started this project last year but I only worked on the hood which was a PITA to make. After some help from Curtis at Modellista Designs ( http://www.modellistadesigns.com ) and from Ryan Woon from WOTM ( http://wotm.com ), I have started work on the front lip. The lip will be the HKS/Paisley lip. The hood is the Top Secret hood.

Ryan's 8 sec. car :)

Thursday. Applied some Tamiya Epoxy Putty over a styrene frame which is under the lip.

Friday. Sanded and filed some of the putty down.

Today. Put some Tamiya basic putty over the lip to fill up some little holes, etc. Can you guys guess what the car in the background is? ;)

Great mods: if I can to advise I done the finishing putty job on vents on my last stuff with thinned putty (Tamiya): in this manner (several layers) you'll skip a lot of sanding job in difficult edges.

Do you plan to convert a Tamiya mechanic in those cool girl?

are you going to ''build'' the chick with ''capitol knockers'' with it :naughty: :naughty: :naughty: :nono: :naughty:

I would also like to know what you guys use to thin down putty?

Keep the progress coming, should look sick once completed. The front lip looks serious.

So I tried to make some molds for some seats, the valve cover and radiator fan.

mike@af

Thats completely normal. I have a few gallons of that stuff sitting in my basement and it seperates after a few minutes of sitting. Just shake it up really well before measuring it out. It usually mixes pretty quickly.

My first casting job... :D

http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f348/D_LaMz/DSC02771.jpg
^^^ I poured the resin in the big main pipe, but it only got to half of the seat. Now I pour through the 2 middle pipes.

http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f348/D_LaMz/DSC02777.jpg
^^^ batch of valve covers the need to be cleaned and un-flashed.

http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f348/D_LaMz/DSC02778.jpg
^^^2 "half seats" from puring into the single large pipe before I learned to work with gravity. 3 good seats with 1 that I need to fill with putty.

http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f348/D_LaMz/DSC02780.jpg
^^^ my first batch of resin. :banghead: Turns out if you put a lot in the cup, it will harden in seconds. That could have been 3 seats and 3 valve covers! :(

http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f348/D_LaMz/DSC02781.jpg
^^^ left over resin that will go into the trash

Any of you guys know how to get rid of that sticky/greasy feeling on the resin casts? For some odd reason some are sticky/greasy and some are smooth.
