99 e46 Control Arms?

has anyone had issues with their control arms? My 99 328 has about 65,000 miles on it and I was getting a vibration in the steering wheel at low speeds (under 25mph) took it into the dealer and they said the control arm bushings were totally worn. Also said that I needed new arms as well. Total price will be $884. The service guy mentioned that it was defective material in the bushings but that it wasn't under any kind of warranty....

Anyone have similar problems?
