Hello, I'm a newbie here.

I'm thinking about buying new wheels and tires for my Cavalier 2001 2.2 SFI
There are sizes that I wanted to buy, 16s and 17s. But right now I'm not sure whether I should get 16 or 17. Any suggestion?

Well if those are the two you are stuck on, go for 17s, but I think you'd be much happier with 18s.

if you don't mind feeling every bump on the road and you live in an area with not so many pot holes.... i'm in the DC metro area so i'm happy with my 16's....

everyone has there own opinon on what they like best on there car. i personally would go with 17's or 18's. if you want performance then i would suggest 16's.

I'm perfectly content with my 17's bigger then stock and not too big so you feel even the cracks in the road.

Wow...18's are not a bad ride! I have no problems with mine and I live in a hilly, curvy, bumpy area myself!

hills and curves are fun..... are your streets littered with potholes though? train crossings? grooved pavement that seems to never get re-surfaced?

i like the bigger rims because i think they set the car off better.

i put lower than recomended profile tires on my 16's to make the rims look a little bigger... (the poor man's solution)

yes yes and yes. Around here they pave the roads that don't need it and leave the shitty ones to be shitty!

If ya wanna see what they look like on a car, check the non performance forums and look for "dam curbs". =D just got new 17s and there are some pictures in there.

My first set of rims were 17"s ... I wasn't happy and now have a set of 18"s.. However if your car is not lowered, putting aftermarket wheels on your car 17+ with the lower profile tires is going to make it look like a 4x4 just warning you. So if you can stand how thats going to look by all means do it, but I absolutely hate how cars look with they are not dropped. But for a deacent setup your looking at 600-800 easily. Suspension isn't somthing you want to go cheap with. If your not going to lower the car get yourself a set of LS or Z24 wheels or something in 16". If you do lower your car get the 18"s... ;-)

I have 17's on stock suspension and I don't think it looks too high or "4x4" lol However, I had them on my 2.2 and it did look pretty high, is the z24 suspension different/lower then the 2.2 suspension?
