1997 blazer ls 4 door
I just did a 2" body lift and now i have what sounds like and exhaust leak. the bummer is i can only hear is when im in the car w/ the windows up and doors closed and music off. If i crack a window i cant here it. If i open the door it gets over powerd by the intake and exhaust. Its clear noise above 1500 rpms on the driver side. it sounds like an exhaust leak, But i couldnt see anything that appears to be a leak. I triple check for binding of anything, nothing. It can do it when the cars not moving, so its somthing w/ the engine. i tried to really listen to the engine but the intake just overpowers my hearing. I tired to see if its the bottom fan shroud but when the cars idle if i push just enough the bottom taps the fan, and thats deff not the sounds i hear. Im kinda stumped. the car drives fine no problems. Any ideas????

Get a piece of fuel line hose, put one end to your ear, other end on areas you suspect might be making the sound. I would bet its probably a exhaust leak, usually where the exhaust manifold connects to the y-pipe. A little movement can cause a leak right in that spot, and you'll get a tapping sound, especially whenits cold, and during load/acceleration.

Possible place - check the PCV and make sure the throttle cable is still attached on the intake (plastic clip) and not contacting the PCV hose - its a metallic tapping of the PCV amped by the cable into the cab.

I didnt chevk the pcv yet but i replaced it about 6000 miles ago when i did a full on tune up, all acdelco stuff. When i was playign with it to look for the noise under the hood, I checked the linkage, Nothing. I think it could be those little porclin dounts to. Im taking it in for inspection so id like to do it so they dont charge me an arm and a leg for it. And BLazes your right, I do here it when im under acceleration. Its not very loud and gets fast with the rise of the rpms. When I change my trany last summer, We took them off and never changed them :banghead: (y-pipe to manifold gasket)
