im hearing rumours of the new gtr being powered by the new vq30dett. can anyone confirm this and why not the vq35dett or larger, this is america after all and people love displacement, and when you twin turbocharge something with displacement, doesnt it become even more powerful. and whats a realistic price that i should look to, i figure it hovers around 70 grand.

I read the new GT-R will house a six cylinder engine with displacement ranging from either 2.6 - 4.6L, some some kind of numbers like that. It will be twin turbocharged, and power output is around 480 - 525 hp. It's gonna be freakin' amazing! I'm gonna buy five. ;)

the new GTR is very sweet. Here in Virginia, the GTR is about $80,000 with a $10,000 mark up. I love the car, but there is some draw back to the car. I black box that watches everything you do. So your buying a $80,000 super car with a box in it so you can't work on a great car. But thanks to companies like COBB tuning and Hennessy motors that are making ways to override that on board CPU to make the car work like it is suppose to. But I say that if you are spending $80,000 on a car you have the money to change it and not worry about a damn black box. So that is what makes the GTR a kickass car. So keep the GTR going strong.

1) all cars in 2012 will have those "black boxes"

2) it's so they can void the warrenty by tracking to see if you've gone to the local racetrack

3) it doesn't matter, once the CPU is overriden the factory warrenty is voided, tampering with a vehicles electronics voids an warrenty, porsche is the only one who allows it.

4) thread is 2 yrs old

hey vector you are right. I just know that the black box voids your warrenty but If you have money to the gt-r you should not worry about the box. I wouldn't. I'm so glad the gt-r is here and i want one or 2. 1 for the track and 1 for the street.
