yes there is a cable that hooks into the DTC connector under the dash located on your fuse pannel, i've used it and logged stuff many times.

the palm desktop software is a free download. You can use that to load and unload applications from it.
I run a palm m130 on my car (note I have 2g not a 1g).. but still having a logger is very nice.
