2000 Z71 rough shifting low coolant?

I have a 5.3 v8 that shifts rough in all gears after the engine has been running for a while. Never at start up, but usually about 30 minutes into my trip.

I also noticed that my truck was low on coolant (sensor never came on)...Is it possible that the excess heat could cause the rough shifting?

No direct correlation, should be scanned with a trans capable scanner and look for possible problems with the pcs solenoid or pending trans codes.
