hi,
there are so many products (ie, oven cleaner, degreasers, brake fluid) that seem to be able to strip paint. However, certain brands are only available in different countries. For where i come from, there is no Mr Muscle or the like.
My question is, what is the common ingredient(s) in all these paint stripping products? Wont that make it very much easier for people around the globe to just look out for that ingredient, no matter the brand, make or type of paint stripping products? (eg, nail polish...important ingredient is acetone.)
any ideas?

It's not so much a common ingredient as different chemicals which have similar properties and will effectively have similar reactions with the same things.

When it comes to the oven cleaners and kitchen degreasers, lye is the most common caustic ingredient in the products I have... - Mark
