Just wondering how many of you guys (and gals) are in the Houston area or around there. I'm moving there on the 5th to start school at the Universal Technical Institute and I'm just kinda wondering what everyday life is like down there. I've been there twice but only for a couple days.
Also, I'm moving into an apartment for my first time. So if you guys have any advice on living on my own, plus share it, I'd love to hear it all. I'm rooming with 2 other guys so we can split the rent for a 2 bedroom apartment, which is gonna be nearly $800....
Anyways though, if all goes well I"ll be work for Mercedes or Porsche in 2 1/2 years and be making some effin money

WOO!! party at will's place. i'm totally coming over ;)
as far as living together goes, keep stuff clean, maybe assign chores. like who cleans the kitchen, who takes the garbage out, so on.

My parents lived there for 15 years, beware of the traffic. I don't know if it's gotten any better, but they said it was absolutely horrible.

What I've heard of Houston is "It ain't hell, but you can smell it from there" and a fella from Houston told me that.

Well it sounds just peachy so far, lol.
Yea traffic is son-of-abitch there, but they do have that really nice 5 lane highway going right through the middle of Houston.
I also heard that the crime rate is pretty bad but I'm looking at apartments in the nicer part of Houston. The last thing I want to see is my car on bricks cuz someone stole my 14's

Dude, living on your own rocks.
3 of you in the same place? Work out a roster for dishes and cooking, and get like a flat account that you buy food and essentials and shit off, and everyone puts in the same amount each week. Makes things a lot easier.
Label stuff that you bought with your own money and don't want to share.
Get a beer bong.
Get to know your flatmates.
Ummm...I'll post more when I'm less hungover. Living away from home rules.

Get a beer bong.
:1: It's essential, in fact, you dont even need food. A beer bong and a 30 pack will get you through the week.

Well I went down there today and put a deposit in for my apartment. I got a taste of how bad Houston's traffic is. Whats normally a 3 hours and roughly 20 minute drive from Houston to Dallas took me a little over 5 hours.
Houston traffic + argueing with your gf over the phone = :banghead:

Yeah, Houston traffic is pretty bad whenever I go visit but you'll get used to it. And congrats on going to UTI, I live in Austin and was thinking of moving there to go but I can't afford it right now. You'll enjoy the racing scene though
