mini me swap

Hi, i have a 99' honda civic dx coupe 5sp, and i was wondering if it was worth it to do the mini me swap w/a y8 head and tranny...i heard that this mini me swap could keep up with gsr's and si's...is this true? But i've also been told that it would be better to just swap in the y8 than to waste my time doing the mini me swap becuz the mini me swap only yields like 120 horses while the y8 is already making 127...also does the sohc vtec sound anything like the b-series vtec, is it as noticeable because i've been in a gsr and sounds pretty sick

Swapping to a Y8 head is the same thing as a mini-me swap. It will give you 127 bhp nonetheless.

I like my Y8 in my 98 ex. I've never really tried racing any gsr's or si's but 127 is still semi-decent for a little 2200 lb car. The si's are pusing 160 bhp stock and I'm not sure about the gsr's. As for keeping up with either a lot of it is driver.

Plus if you always wanted to go with more hp on the y8 there are a decent amount of turbo options (or jus swap in a bigger engine and then turbo that).

I agree with pretty much everything everyone else said, except for the hp you should expect. You should actually have a little more than 127hp, because the engine will have higher compression than a stock D16Y8 (9.76:1 vs 9.96:1) Both heads have the same combustion chamber volume, but the Y7 pistons have a slightly taller compression height (yet lower cc, but the height makes up for it).
