Quitting Smoking

I don't smoke, but I have two really good friends that do. They've both been trying to quit (or claiming to) for years now. Both have gone stretches without smokin but can't keep it up. Hell, one was pregnant but as soon as she had her baby, it was right back to business:disappoin
I try to be supportive when they are trying to stop, but I don't really know the best way to help them since I never really was addicted to them. I smoked for a few months back in middle school, yes middle school, but that was only cuz my group of friends thought it was the cool thing to do.:nono:
Anybody have any ideas on ways I can possibly help them quit? I get tired of
A) smelling it on them and
B) Having them complain to me about how they wish they could quit. I don't get it.

It's a behavioral change as much as anything else. They should avoid situations where they would usually smoke, like breaks at work, smoky bars, etc.
The most important thing that people have told me is: don't buy them. If you don't buy them to start with you don't have them and can't smoke them. (Bumming them is another thing). But I've seen so many people that claimed they were stopping buy a pack so they could "cut down gradually" and then before long they're back to 2 packs a day. :bs: Make the decision to quit, and stick to it.
If they're numbers kind of people show them how much their 2 pack a day habit will cost them over the next 40 years.

Wow 2 packs a day is a lot! I think I'd get sick.

I've seen worse. A guy at my old job used to take a smoke break about every 10 - 20 minutes. So thats at least 30 a day, just at work. I don't know how many come in a pack but I'm sure he ran through at least 3 a day.

There's 20 in a pack so he'd be smoking a pack and a half. I sometimes smoke with my friends. I mean I can go cold turkey no problems and I intend to keep it that way. I know I can't smoke more than a a few cigarettes before I start to feel sick. I rarely do it so maybe that's why.
