95-99 GST Spyder would be the one you're looking for. But if you want ungodly launches, definitely go AWD (GSX or TSI AWD)

Some people have done AWD conversions on Spyders before. I came like this close | | to buying the most amazing DSM I have ever laid eyes on. It was a 97-99 Spyder, silver, AWD, 6 bolt, and it had the one body kit that I like as much as the 2gb kit. MAN it was freakin amazing. It was only 10 grand. I think it sold before I saw it, believe me, I would have bought that thing.

Transmission is simply preference. If you can/want to drive stick, get a stick. If you don't want to hassle with shifting all the time and are content with an auto, get an auto. I searched for a *decent* manual turbo DSM for 2 months and settled for an auto GS. Don't do what I did.
Don't buy one newer than '99, you will regret it and want an older one.

I have a 98 spyder GST 5spd and i love it so much that i just sold my 96 gs auto just the other day. Ever since I have had the spyder i never drove the GS. Definately get a GST or GSX no matter what you get , they just have so much more potential (sorry n/a owners, I still got respect for yall). As far as the tranny goes i think that a sports car should come with a stick shift but like it has been said manny times before its all a personal opinion.:2cents:

Auto isn't too bad man. Plus you might find an auto in better shape then a 5 sp. Or you might find an auto awd(GSX,TSiAWD) and only a fwd 5 sp(GST, TSi). I say, if either one doesnt matter to you(auto/stick), than find the best deal you can and go with that. If its 5sp, than it was meant to be, vice versa Thats what I did and it was an auto. Oh wel....I still love my DSM( I mean someone has to give the auto dsm's some lovin). Anything from 2000 and up is not a sports car. And make sure you get a turbo model. Most importantly, do some a reading on here, vfaq.com , dsmtuners.com , etc, etc.
ps// if you go fwd turbo, go spyder. Anything else, I'd go awd turbo. Just my opinion of course.

I would rather drive a beat up FWD manual than a pretty clean AWD auto. To me, the clutch is like your penis. Can you be a real man without one? ;)
Definately hold out for what you want, you will not regret it. If you just get a car because you can you will want the rigth one later.
