Polishing Underhood

Hey all;
So I finally figured I want the underhood colors to be black (color of car), red, and chrome/silver. I want to polish up the coolant pipes. I know I have to sand off the stock paint on them. Then what? Where do I go from there? I seen the thread with someone who did their turbo and all the goodies. I want it to look like that. Where do I begin? Thanks.

Ya mean my thread? :wink:
All ya do is sand it off with like an 80 grit, then once you get everything relatively smooth (casting marks, bumps, etc) move up to a 320 or 400 grit. After that its really just a matter of working up to about 1000 grit and then polishing it up with a polishing wheel and some good ol' metal polish. :)

Ahh come on people... those are the most common under the hoods. I'm not original at all. I should be considering I goto a huge art school. One of my teachers last semester actually said, "When done right, the engine bay of an automobile can be just as inspiring as VanGough (sp?)." I think she was on drugs anyways. These artist types always seem high in my book.

That's not very shiny. And if there isn't a ruling on it, you can bet there will be a year from now.

Purple is a hell of a lot easier to find than orange. My car is orange with silver/black graphics and I've looked high and low for orange underhood stuff but with no luck. I have to resort to using that shitty wire loom shit to wrap everything in.

:lol: I've got a purple valve cover. I really dont give a shit though, as long as my engine bay looks relatively decent, I dont care.
