My trans am was recently totaled. I am very upset about getting T boned at 45mph and almost dieing, but now its time to get a new car on the street. The trans am has a olds 455 with 450hp and 480fpt which I built less than 10000 miles ago. I have a 84 monte carlo ss with only 48000 original miles. I want to swap my 455 into it. It may sound crazy but I know it can be done. Can someone help me out on this one. The monte is already set up for a olds motor. Im just gonna need other car lovers help on this one guys. thanks

IF you have the motor and trans out of the T/A (Chevy uses a different trans bolt pattern than all the other GM makes), the only thing you may need to fabricate is a trans crossover so you can run dual exhaust. The Monte shares it's frame with the Cutlass, which came with the olds 307. The motor mount locations are the same on the 307 as on the 455, so there should be holes already in the crossover. If the Monte has A/C, the passenger side valve cover will be tight to the heater box(the olds 455 is wider than a S/B Chevy, but it will clear.

Thanks. The monte had a 350 rocket in it a while back. Will that bolt up. I read that the exaust is going to be the hardest part because of the headers and duals. But from you and reading it seems it can be done. The other thing im worried about is im going to drive it almost daily How will i get it to pass inspection? any tips on that one?

If your state does emissions testing including a visual inspection, you won't pass, period. Chevy never offered the 307 Olds engine in the Monte, so it will be a dead giveaway.
