Another ABS Problem

Had the front wheel speed sensors replaced over the winter as part of the recall. Recently my ABS light has come on when I start to drive either in forward or reverse. Checked voltage on all the sensors and they were fine. What I did find was a badly corroded wire on the electro-hydraulic control unit (EHCU) which is located on the drivers side frame rail just about under the drivers seat. I know that this is the brake pressure modulator valve and the electronic brake control module. It looks like the two wires that come from the lower part of this unit and plug into the upper part. It's one of these that is corroded. My question is can this unit be separated and replaced individually or does the whole thing need to be replaced as one? If it's too costly, I may try to cut out the corroded section and solder in a new wire.

Everyone, especially those who take their trucks in deep water or mud should check this unit out on their trucks. I was really suprised to see how badly corroded this was!

By the way, I rarely do any off roading with it. Just a lot of light hauling.

sounds like there are going to be a lot of problems with the abs. I do a lot of work down gravle roads. some of them are bearly there. thanks fo rthe heads up.

so far i know more about the abs systems than the school trained techs at the dealer. but then i have been around abs systems way befor thay ever hit the car market. you would think thay would have the bugs worked out by now.
