Problem with 86 ranger

I have a 1986 ranger 2.9 that will start, but almost immediately (30 seconds?) stalls out and won't start again that day. I know this isn't much info to go off of, but anyone have any ideas?
Also, on a side note, does this truck have one fuel filter or two? It seems illogical to me at least to have two, but someone on another forum said their 87 did.
