350z/g35 they are or they are not the same car?

I used to think that the only diference between 350z and G35 coupe where some exterior panels, interior touches, etc, but I tought they were the same car.

Now some guy told me they share only engines and that the chasis/platforms are diferent ones. Z33 for the 350Z and V35 for the G35

so my question is, they are or they are not basically the same car?

Basically the same car. Minor chassis differences such as length, reinforcement, backseat, body design.
