Radiator Fan Motor??

Ok guys ive been havin coolant problems for the last couple weeks finally narrowed it down to the radiator fan, i noticed when i drove the car it was fine, yet when i stoped at idle, temp went up a lot higher then normal, so i just replaced the relay hoping it was that but of course it wasnt. So the only other possible thing it could be is the fan motor. Now is the fan motor seperate from the fan or is it built into the fan? lil lost so if anyone knows hit me back.

the motor is spearate but you have to pull teh entire assembly to get it off. Try the collant temp sensor as well. or you can splice a gator clip on to the tow wires on the motor and make sure that the motor is the probelm. If you disconnect the collant temp sensor the fan should kick on though.

I replaced my coolant temp sensor on my 2.2, $20 and very easy, unplug the bug, unscrew the old, screw in the new, plug the bug.

I have no idea but...if your car is overheating, you're supposed to turn the heat on full blast, not the AC, so if the fan came on with the AC....why would you have to put the heat on instead? Like I said, I have no idea, but thinking of that, I don't think the fan comes on with the AC. :screwy:

I dunno about the ac anymore. The bolts for my compressor broke off in the block some time ago so i haven't had ac for a while. The sensor is easy to replace and it is in an easy spot, just put some plumbers tape on it first.

i am having the same problem...i thought that it was the relay switch to, but of course it wasnt mine either...the fan isnt set to come on when it goes to 200, the fan should kick on at 210-215. i went to the shop today to check it out and they think that my head might be worked because i replaced the head gasket and didnt send the head away to get machined or some shit. i was gonna try replacing my thermostat but my radiator hoses both upper and lower were both hot so it means my thermostat was working properly. i am pretty pissed because gettin the head machined is gonna cost a pretty penny...im thinkin about lettin it run for a while and just get a new car when i graduate college. when your moving does it stay just a few degree's above 180? the guy told me that if i replace the thermostat with a 160-175 degree thermoststat it should stop the problem but im not sure...

ALSO ALSO ALSO when you turn the AC on the radiator fan should turn on but make the car run reallly rough...(but still work)

if you find an answer please please get back to me and see if i have tried it yet...thanx

how long would my car be out of commession while it gets machined and could i remove the head myself?...lol how?

Yes i kno im not supposed to be running the AC when the engine is overheating....i was just puttin the AC on to see if the fan was working at all. The car only over heats if im driving for a while n then it sits n idle then the temp rises yet if im driving its ok, so im assuming the fan isnt workin ill find out tomorow.

I don't know about how long the head will be in the shop. Depends on the shop but mine was in there for a week, but I told them to take their time cause I had plently more ot do at the time.
