Replacement headlight lenses

Has anybody bought the replacement lenses on Ebay? $160/pair including UPS sounds pretty good, but how long will they last? I have a 2000 Montana and if these replacements last 4 to 6 years I would be satisfied since the factory ones only last that long. Also, what about the "rejuvination" paste I have seen advertised?

Is the problem that the OEM lenses have fogged over due to moisture?

My neighbor and I found our own solutions. He drilled a small hole in the lower, outer corner of the lens and this eliminated the moist.

My solution ws a bit more abrupt. I took the assemblies (minus the bulbs) in the house and placed them (one at a time) in the oven at 180F for about 1/2 hour. Dried them out completely.

Then I drilled a 1/8 hole in the flat bottom side of the lens immediately below the location of the halogen blub.

Completely clear lens: - $0

Total cost including shipping: - $0

Result: priceless!

Mine have hazed from plastic degradation. I had the same thing happen on an 88 Mustang.

What about trying that cleaner device that Chip Foose has been flogging on TV lately. You know the one that has that fabric brush attachment that goes with your electric drill?

Apparently it comes with compounds that can clean the haze off the outside of the lens and polish it to a clear finish again.

I haven't tried it, but I have done something similar with polishing compound and a lot of 'elbow grease' on my 1978 Dodge tail light lenses and my wife's 1991 Isuzu headlight lenses.

I'll give that a try before I pop for the new lenses.

Getting ready to go on vacation and got the wild hair idea to try easy off oven cleaner on the headlight lens. Amazingly the haze came right off. Make sure to protect your paint if you try this though.

Mother's Chrome Polish did a dandy job on my truck's headlamp covers, too. Good bit of buffing involved, however.

I just put a little brake fluid on a rag and rub on the hazy lamp covers and they clear up pretty good for a while, just dont get any fluid on your paint job..

I bought a couple of those headlights on e-bay. They come with the entire pull-out assembly, and replace without too much swearing. They stick out about a half inch farther than the old ones, but to me it's no big deal.
