Mystery Hose and Stalling problem

I've got some hose on my intake disconnected, my EGR plugged, and when I pull off my oil cap my engine dies.
My car doesn't smoke.
The disconnected hose is the one that connects to the air filter housing, what is it?
What's causing my car to die when I pull the oil cap off? It also stumbles when I check the oil while it's running.

Well I figure the thing on the intake you're talking about is the breather hose, and that goes straight from the top right hand side of the valve cover to the intake. Perhaps you have a vaccuum leak someplace, or a faulty sensor.. When my MAF was messed up, and I took the oil fill cap off, the car would start to spudder, and it might have even stalled.. It's all run on vaccuum so I would just guess it's that, but I may be wrong.

And car/year might help too?

The PCV valve sucks the air (gases) out of the crankcase. Since it's drawing air out then you have to have air going in somewhere. That is what that hose going to the air cleaner box is.
Your stalling is (my guess) is caused by a bad PVC valve. Make sure the hose disconnected from the air cleaner is not plugged off.
Hook the EGR back up and see what happens. Maybe it was unhooked when someone was trouble shooting it.

EGR's hooked up, just plugged up in the manifold.
It's not that short hose, it's the one that connects to a metal pipe and runs to somewhere by the exhaust manifold.
