Smarts coming to US

FRANKFURT (Reuters) - DaimlerChrysler will launch its two-seat Smart minicar in the United States beginning in 2008, the world's fifth-biggest carmaker confirmed on Wednesday.

It said it had selected UnitedAuto Group as its exclusive distributor for Smart in the world's biggest car market.

Company officials are encouraged that high fuel prices will prompt more Americans to consider buying a small car.

Actually, if you were driving it, and happend to back up into say...a trash can, then you would be caught dead! A good sized dog could literally be the end of you if you hit one while driving that crapbox.

I don't think they go fast enough to do any significant damage. Kind of like a toddler running into your shins....it may leave a mark, but an hour later, you already forgot how you got it. :grinyes:

Having a bit more utility and comfort than a bike does not make up for the gay factor. If you drive a smart car, and are male, you WILL look like a homosexual. That's all there is to it.

I have a truck fueling station about 2 blocks from work, and Diesel runs on average $.05 to $.10 cents cheaper than 87 octane and a few cents cheaper than Diesel prices in the area at regular 'public' gas stations.

All the big rig trucks stop in and fuel up before or after leaving the Port of Long Beach to take their goods all over the country. It's a small station, but it's packed all the time, so that means prices can be cheap due to the volume.

That's where I'd go... so for me, Diesel is more economical.;)

next time i got to GA im bringing $150 and a 55gal drum and saving 0.15/gal
