I'm looking into getting new rear speakers for my '96 K1500. Doesn't anyone know the process or order to go through to get to the speakers? Also, what size are teh speakers? are they 4x6?

Thanks!

I did that a few months ago in my C1500... Its about as bad as it looks. if the 96 is the same as my 92, they are 4x6's. To get to them, you need to remove the seatbelt (T50 torx bit) along with the two hooks, a few screws, along with the whole upper panel. Take the white cover off the light and access the two screws in that. Sadly, I learned through experience about those.. I just ripped it down. That upper pannel is held up by two screws on either side, but they're hidden by the side panels. One of the previous owners before me broke them off, so i didn't worry about them. Another thing you have to remove is the panel under the rear window.. Try prying out from the bottom than hitting the panel in an upwards motion to release the upper clips. The ones towards the bottom need to be pulled straight out.. The ones on the top need to be pulled straight upwards. That should create enough space for you to get back there. If your headliners sagging, this would be a good time to get that redone, as I had done. One more thing.. If you really want good sound try to install dynamat or something. I forgot to do this and now my speakers have pretty bad bass for the quality they are, and they max out at a pretty low level. I'm going to put a four channel amp on soon.. Tell me if you have any other questions. I'm not sure if our interiors are the same, but they should be relatively close. I think the 95s and on have different interiors, but hopefully most of the securing parts are the same

They are 4x6 and they are a mess to get to. Night and day difference between the stock and aftermarkets thought, night and day....

I replaced mine a few years ago. I ended up just cuting out the plastic grill in front of the stock speakers, removing them, and flush mounting the new ones on the plastic; did the same with the door speakers.
