Ok, so im thinking of getting PayPal. Is there anything important for me to know about? Like bullshit bills sent home and stuff? And a personal account doens't cost anything does it?

I have paypal. It's fine. There are no hidden fees etc. It's really good.

So basically, you don't pay anything without buying something through PayPal? and no extra charge per buy?

Nope. I've never had a problem with them. And really, I use it whenever possible. That way there's an extra entity with record of your payment should a discrepancy occur. At the same time, its someone else with your credit card info, but I trust them with it as opposed to just some random site where in order to buy, I give my card info to them. All purchases are recorded for you free of charge and the person on the receiving end never sees your credit card info. Definitely worth it:2cents:

Paypal is fantastic. Doesn't matter where you live.

Yeah. I didn't realize how wide spread paypal has become. At first I thought it was only used for ebay transactions but now I see it all over the place. I bought a new suspension kit online from some random "wesellracingpartsforimports.com" type site yesterday and they said they accepted paypal:thumbsup:

Just beware the spam you may already be getting about security issues/violations or to validate your paypal account. When in doubt go to www.paypal.com (http://www.paypal.com) to check something out.

Doesn't matter where you live. I use Paypal - it's genius. There are no hidden fees, personal account is free to set up. You only get charged fees when you receive money.

Really, really good.

Thanks. Oh and another problem, PayPal says i entered an invalid credit card number, when it's the correct number. Everything is good, 'cept that. What the hell?

Is the billing address the same as your registered account address?

I entered mined as a 16 digit number the first time and it got kicked back, try spacing it whatever it reads on the card.

Partially correct. If someone sends you money from their paypal account, so it's entirely within their system, it costs nothing. However credit/debit card transactions get imposed a small fee of 3%. Also in order to accept credit/debit card payments you have to upgrade to a "Premier" or "Business" account, either of which costs nothing.

actually no, i wrote down the wrong adress when i first registered, but changed it when trying to register the card. could that be it?

Yea, Make sure all your addresses match. Also, don't space or use "-" when entering your 16 digit number. Those aren't necessary.

Also, make sure you use the exact and correct phone number registered to your card. I tried using another number not registered to the card and it didn't work.

I used to get "phishing" emails from paypal, the usual stuff, "problem with transaction- click on this link", etc. I would just forward these emails to [email protected] . A couple times they responded back to me saying to use "https" before I entered the paypal address, and this way I would be sent to their secured site where it was safer to conduct business, or check my account.

Didn't eBay buy Paypal a couple of years ago, and made it one of their services? That was a smart move.

I dunno. The two definitely seem to be closely associated. I always kind of assumed ebay owned paypal but I don't remember seeing anything offical. But if they do, definitely genius. Why don't I think of doin stuff like that?:banghead:

google just anounced that they are going to offer a service that will compete with PayPal. it's called GBuy i think. it's only in the testing stage with about 200,000 customers. but supposedly reatilers that offer a GBuy account will have a different check out layout and stuff. and yes Ebay bought PayPal in October of 2002.
