okay final opinion

so I have it narrowed down I either want a B&M "edge" short shifter or a neuspeed short shifter. what would be better! there isa huge price difference but I am willing to pay! oh by the way does anyone know what the bushings from neuspeed are for and what they do? I found them on e bay and they are only like 12 bucks so I was curious what they did? thanks:)

Ive never even heard of that other one, I would go with the Neuspeed

Oh, HI & hello!!!!
I have the B&M Edge short shifter...and I don't like it...It is a quality product, but the shifter lever itself is straight, so it puts the knob way up near the dash, and it isn't a very short throw....I now want the Neuspeed shifter.
My cheapy OBX (which broke) had a nice short throw, and the lever was bent back (like the stock shifter) so the angle was nice, but it was made of aluminum and snapped at the first thread after about 6 months. The B&M is made of a steel alloy so I suspect that it is stronger...but I don't like it's physical characteristics...especially because the straight lever whacks my cup holder I have hanging in my ash tray and I have to almost stretch my shoulder out of its socket to reach the damn thing!! :mad:
When I have money to burn I plan to get a Neuspeed shifter, if that helps with your decision...hindsight is 20/20.
As for the bushings - they go at the mount points of the stationary bar that the shifter arm kinda bolts to. It is a stabilizer bar of some sort...One bushing goes in the back where the bar mounts to the car, and one goes in front where the bar mounts to the tranny (if I remember correctly..) The Neuspeed bushings (or any other urethane)are supposed to help isolate vibration and movement and provide more precise shifts. I installed these with my first short shifter, so I can't tell you if it would be a huge difference in and of itself. For $12 I thought it was worth it. :)

Why not just get the original Type R...need to cut a piece of it to fit though...but its in an angle and works great...:flash:
