So we had alot of rain lately. I get sick of drying out my top on the new gst every time it rains. A few weeks ago I tried to scotch guard it with no luck to help. I then noticed that on the top it looked liek lines. On the under side the glue had come off there essentially. So it leaks heavily at the sides. from the top where it loosk like the staples started to leak through before i removed them.

As such I called the dealer and they quoted me: 845 for labor. Told me to sit down before they gave me the number for the top $3177. I hung up and bought one online for 450 with new side rails.

Has anyone installed one themselves before? This aparently comes with instructions specific for the car. I hope it's not too hard. I'm fairly competant with all things mechanical.

Good luck, I think you should be able to pull it off. $3k for a convertible top is rediculous.

Installing a convertable top is not something I would do myself it's a big pain in the ass. Your best bet is to call uphosltry shops in your area and get a quote from them since they are the ones who deal with tops. I know that installation is much less than 800 dollars especially if you already have the top.

I agree, I would definitely call up a local upholstery place to have it installed. They're going to be a lot cheaper than any dealer, by far.
