K&N = Check Engine Light

After 6 months of trying to figure out why my check engine light comes on at 1/2 tank of gas and goes off when full, I finally remembered I put in a K&N air filter in before this started. I guess the less restrictive filter confuses the computer, but is there a fix for it? Anyone else solve this problem? It does it on both my 97 Ranger 4X4 4.0 and my 01 F150 4X4 5.8 Triton.

i ran a K&N filter on my ranger for 5 years and never had a check engine light come on. i recently put on the intake kit and started using shell v-power premium gas and i started getting egr exessive flow code every once in awhile.

I put the stock filter in and the light goes off. Still waiting to find out a way to use the K&N.

K&N said to unplug the battery for an hour and then it would take 100 miles for the computer to learn the new mixture. I have already done that and put on over 2000 miles....lol. Is he that stupid to think that will fix it?
