cooling problem

hey there i need some help i have a 1990 eclipse and i have changed the head gasket and the water pump and put in a new rad and it is still overheating if the car i at idle its ok but when i give it gas it pushes it out the overflow what is wrong need help thanks Les [email protected] email me if you can help thanks............

How do you know it is overheating? As the pressure in the coolant builds up, it's supposed to empty a little into the overflow tank. That's what it's there for.

That is normal when it cools it will suck some back in.

hey man what is happening is that when i let it idle its ok but when i give it gas it pushes all the rad fluild into the overflow and then over heats thats what the problem is

try burping the system.

While the car is cold, take the radiator cap off. Squeeze the upper radiator pipe as hard as you can so the fluid almost flows over. Do this for a few minutes and it should get an air bubble out if you do have one. Make sure you have enough fluid too!

i have tried that to i filled the rad from the upper rad hose until it came out of the thermo houseing i even ran the car with the heat on full and it never goes past half temp but the problem is that when i give it gas it pushes all the fluid out of the overflow i have put a new water pump new head gasket and thermostat it the car along with a new rad i just dont understand what else it could be

You must have a plugged line or something.

You have checked the thermostat right? I just replaced mine. My car would overheat after driving it for less than 5 minutes. The fluid would all shoot out into the overflow bottle. Then when my car would cool down it would get sucked back in. If you haven't checked the thermostat it might be a good idea. They are like 11 dollars. Be positive there is enough coolant too.

You replaced the radiator cap right?? :rolleyes: If it isn't sealing, and holding pressure where else would the fluid go but the overflow.......
