What: reoughly 2.5"x2.5" unpainted metal block with wires going to it

Where: under the hood, connected to the passenger wheel well.

Why I'm asking: It gets very hot very fast(~1 minute) and I might be having some electrical problems with the motor (sporadic cold startup problem when damp/raining outside)
