Draining battery

Will removing fuses to stereo prevent it from draining the battery on a 91, pontiac transport?

OK there are 2 fuses..radio1/aux and radio2:
www.avigex.ca/xport/fusepanel31.jpg (from '93 3.1....check if actually similar to yours) radio1 is HOT all the time but delivers juice to lighter plug and heater a/c controls.... Radio2 is to the on-off button
But..why turning it off would not be sufficient to stop it from "draining" the battery? Is is damaged? does it still work? Is this an original installation or an add-on installation? IN the latter case nothing tells how it was wired.
NOw...what lets you suspect that the radio (stereo) drains the battery?

It is a secondary install, so I don't think it was installed correctly, I have already replaced the alternator and the battery twice, I can't think of anything else when it comes to the electrical system, all devices are turned off and with the stereo is the only non-factory item in the vehicle!
The last time the battery had a charge, I would turn off the van and the radio would kind of whistle, like it was powering down, but still had power.
I still have to charge the battery again, and I have already removed both of those fuses that you mentioned, I wanted to find out if just removing the fuses would be sufficient.

Do you have a automatic load leveller? In several occasions, members here have had the problem of this device slowly loosing air and the compressor would start to keep the level and this happens also with key off. SO it can drain the battery. WHen you leave the car, it would be at normal pressure so the compressor would not start acting until you are far away from the car....If you are so equipped, there is a fuse for that device (also cuts other devices)..

As far as I know there is no such device on this vehicle, it was a work vehicle when I purchased it, and there is no added devices that I noticed anywhere on the vehicle.
If there is a specific placement for the compressor, I can find it, but I seen nothing out of the ordinary on this vehicle.

You would know..there would be buttons at the rear of vehicle, left side, just near the door, behind convenience pouch. and compressor under the car, behind rear left wheel well...
so...back to square 1: can you measure the amps drawn from battery when everything should be off? can do that at main post iwth red plastic cover near firewall near brake booster....there should be a minute amount of current drawn by the computer, like 0.1 amp....you have checked the lIght in the glove box and the light in the engine compartment...?

Then I can definately say no, there is no compressor on this vehicle, I will check the drain on the battery when I recharge the battery.
