1996 GMC engine turns over, no start

Happened all of a sudden, turn the key and the engine spins over and over.
5.7 vortec, 1500 SLT automatic,185,000 miles.
I have done the following:
Fuel pump has the "hum" that proves its working.
Replaced the coil and module as I didn't have a spark at the coil.
For testing, removed fuel filter and substituted it for a short length of hose and clamps to rule out a filter problem, no help..
Checked the fuse box and noticed that one 30A fuse was blown, "AUX" fuse, so I swapped it with another. Didn't help.
I probed around with the Goodwrench alarm system box but couldn't detect a problem there. The start relay in the box has the audible click when energized.

FWI....the fuel pressure regulator was replaced at 150,000 miles.

any suggestions and remedies are greatly appreciated.

Whats the fuel pressure? Just because it "hums" doesn't mean it has enough pressure to start.

Haven't checked the fuel pressure.
After thinking about it, I guess the pressure would have to be greater from the pump to overcome the lower pressure setting of the regulator.
In other words if the regulator is set at say....40psi and the pumps output is equal to or less, then the pump is weak and needs to be replaced, right?

Fuel pressure should be closer to 60-65 for the Vortec to start.
