newbie with a crx hf

I am thinking about buying a 89 CRX HF. Its got a D15B6. The car has sat outside and not driven in about 6 months. I found a lot of water in the oil and it smoked very badly. Could someone give me advice about this engine. Is it worth my time to try to rebuild. Will the SI head work with the HF block. I know the tranny and the ECU would have to be switched out to get the performance out of it. I just dont see the point of rebuilding a 60 hp motor. PLEASE HELP need some advice Thanks

hmm or any b series engine is nice... and your engine prolly has a blown head gasket which is an easy fix.... but if you have the money i would do a swap because that engine is only good for one thing..... going places...(very slow)

I think greenblurr is partial to the B18 series, heres what I say, B18's are nice, (If you've got deep pockets), not much more performace than the b16, and with the couple extra grand you spend on the b18, you can make the b16 haul a reasonable amount of ass and tear straight through anyone with a stock b18 who didnt have the extra in the motor because he bought a more expensive motor. your choice, im just partial, no disrespect meant to any b18 owners.

if you do a zc swap you will save more i bought mine from ebay for $75. had it on the dyno befor i put it and it was 152hp not bad with the hf it will blot right in new tranny wont hurt you will need a new ECU pg7 2nd best but cheep any d siers tranny will work. and then you have every thing you need.
ps most dohc non vtec zc will take stock gsr power to wieght baby
