I need to build a compression test unit

Can someone please link me to the site, where they instruct you on how to build you own compression test unit. I have searched ofr atleast an hour now and couldnt find anything. I have read it before, but I cant find it now...

The reason is, is because, I saw an add in the paper for a 1995 Eclipse RS for $500. I checked it out today, and this car is a total fixer upper.

First off the car does not start...it cranks but wont start. the reason is because the guy said the timing belt is off. Well i checked the car out today and it need a new paintjob, the interior is 8 outa 10, and a few dent. So I agreed to give him $465.

Anyways, while checking out the car, we where cranking it and as he did that I opened up the timing belt inspection plastic thing and the belt and camgears where not even moving. So i am hoping that the belt simply fell off the crank pulley.
The seller was telling me that is son was driving around and whatever and then left his car to idle and when he came back, the car had turned off. So apparently, the timing belt came off while idleing, so hopefully no vavles where bent. The car itself has 216000 miles, while the engine has approx. 160000 miles.

So if anyone can link me up to the compression test site, I will build my own and see if any valves where bent. I am picking up the car on Tuesday for $465. i feel that is a good deal...not a total loss, If I mess up majorly, lol.

Anyways, give me your thoughts and/or advice. I will be back on this site way more frequently now, now that i have a DSM again! And another black one.

Thanks in advance, Sami.

Just buy one, mine was $40 from auto value. You could probably borrow one from a parts shop or a friend that has one or a mechanic buddy that could slide one out the back door for you for a day or something. My timing went off while idling, guess what? All 16 were bent. You have some/all bent valves, you can damn near count on that. I am getting pretty good at this ripping the head off shit, its not too hard, just know what you are doing. Was there still tension in the belt? Heres what comes to my mind. Sheared the dowels off the cams or the slot on the crank, crank bolt came off (seriously doubt), auto tensioner went bad and she just skipped off, blah blah blah. Get ready for like $250 in machinist bills, new head gasket and head bolts (I recommend ARP's), a full set of valves (4g63 valves were $100 for the whole set from SBR), new valve seals, top end gasket kit, and a shit ton of headache. What I would do is reset the timing and do a compression test. Remember which ones have 0 and check for bent valves. You can still have bent valves even if they look good, shine a flashlight into the port on the side of the head in a dark room and look for light around the valve.
