Tranny problems!

When I shift into second gear, it pops back out. If I try to hold it in second gear it grinds. My fourth is starting to do the same. My friend said the synchro went out in it. Is this a common problem? Should I replace the synchro and 2nd gear or buy a new tranny? Any help would be great!

Yes this is common when you shift really fast all the time. My 2nd gear was doing the same thing, can't get it to go in at all now. Time for syncros.
