For those with 16"++ wheels, size question...

I've got a problem with my rear suspension, my tires scratch against the metal of the car (didn't find any other way to put it). It seem that the wheel sticks too far out. I have 205/50-16 tire on a 7,5x16 wheel, and it should fit, at least my dealer say so (but I don't trust him nomore, long story.... )

To start with, I don't know the english term for this, so bare with me :)
All wheels are "pressed" in, standard for the Primera's original tires are 45 something, and mine are "pressed" in 37. This must be why they are subbing against my car. Btw, what's it called in english?

And then my question, who much are the wheels you guys are running on, pressed in? And will it be better to go down to 15" wheels? (plz say; no :D )

What is the biggest that will fit? 17s? 18s?

its called 'offset.' the smaller the positive offset, the more it will stick out of the fender.

on my p11, i use 45mm offset 17x7's. 215/45/17 tires. no rubbing.

you can fit 18's if you use the right offset. the circumference of the tire does not change that much because you will use smaller aspect ratio.

215/"45"/17 45 is the aspect ratio = 215x 0.45 = 96.75mm sidewall.

One inexpensive trick that some shops use to gain a little more room is rolling the fenders. Basically bending the flat fenderwell that rubs against your wider tire (stick your hand under the fender and feel it) so that it is rounded. Not the best solution, but it works if you can't get the offset you need and are only rubbing slightly.

Arospeed has a new line of wheels that go up to 19 inches, and they are only 7 (or less) inches wide...
perfect for our imports!!!!!!

and yes!!! as aluke000 says...i have seen many bend that metal lip on the wheel well, and it works perfect, and you can bearly tell!!!!
