Looking For 2g gsx

okay so i am in search of a 2nd gen eclipse gsx.mileage doesnt matter,body condition should atleast be fair..i mean if it needs a new door or a truck or a fender thats fine i can handle that but nothing of major body damage and as far as the motor goes...doesnt even have to run,im looking for a project car anyways but if it runs thats even better.and if ti doesnt run it be helpful if you could atleast know what is actually wrong with it.also,im not looking for anything highly modded..i want to build a project and id like to do the work myself as a learning experience and so i can say its "mine"..know what im saying?okay ,hope someone has somethign for me!!!!

A cheap DSM project car? I think you'd have a better chance winning the lottery. No, but really, you probably won't find any "project cars". You might find one that's blown up or something, but not one that's half tore apart that you could pick up for $500, that just doesn't happen

i didnt mean for like 500 bucks..ive owned dsm before so i know ty arent always cheap..but i found a guy locally with a 1999 gsx it needs a new door,fender and motor.he said hed let ig o for 3 grand?good deal or no?and he said what happened to the motor was the timing belt or timing chain jumped and screwed up some stuff internally...so i figured about a grand for a 6bolt from www.jspecautosports.com and a new fender and door..sound like a decent deal or should i try and talk him down or shop around?

Well maybe. Whats the milage? Jumped timing belt means you probably need to get a new auto tensioner, maybe timing belt, probably a new set of vavles, hopefully no guides or seats, new head gasket, new head bolts (get ARP's), and probably some where in the range of $50 to $400 in machinist bills depending on whether you take the valves out yourself or not, how much the machinist charges and how quick he is. Then the door would be probably like $200 from a junk yard and like $50-$75 for the new fenders.

I would say get a 1g AWD. I got mine with a blown head gasket for $750. That GSX isnt too bad of a deal either, if I would have been able to get one like that instead of my 1g, I would have. $3000 is pretty steep, I'd offer him like $2200 and see what he says. But If you want that car, its maybe worth 3 grand to you.
