1995 VW Passat GLX Sedan Alarm Problems

I have a 1995 VW Passat GLX Sedan, I purchased this car about 4 months ago and the alarm has not worked at all. When I turn the key from the outside all doors lock fine, the alarm should arm itself, but it doesn't. The Indicator light does not flash, nothing. The only time it has ever lit up is when my battery was dead, for some reason the indicator light was on, but the alarm didn't work (I assume because the battery was dead). Also, when i turn my key to lock all doors from the ouside it unlocks my trunk, i have to manually lock my trunk. Any ideas on why my alarm or trunk lock would be malfunctioning, or how to fix these problems would be appreciated, Thanks. Note: I recently purchased a sub and amp package that was professionally installed, however, i do think that this would affect my alarm in any way since it did not work before the speaker install.

I'm by no means an expert, but do you have all the original keys? Are you using a regular key or a valet key? That might make a difference.

Yes i have all the keys, regular & valet.

I'm having the same issue and after taking it to the dealer and checking a bunch of things on my own I still have no answer. Sorry to be a bummer, but if you find out anything please find me. Thanx

i've got the same passat but my alarm dose not disarm at all. i've got my car 5 days ago, and havent driven it eversince. every time i turn the egnistion on the alarm sets off. can anyone tell my how to disarm the alarm.
