Sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum, but I need a quick answer to this worry out of my head.

The other night I noticed an oil stain on the ground and thought I would look. It is not coming from the oil pan or filter, nor the A/C, and I checked all levels and their fine. What the hell is it???
I posted on the XOC and they said it looks like the rear engine seal, can you guys confirm this. Also if you don't mind the extra typing, can I drive around in this state or is this a MAJOR issue.

Thanks for the help in advance, these kind of things freak me out because I don't know what they are.

It is quite possible that it is the rear engine seal. You might get a better diagnosis if you power wash the engine and that whole area and then see what you get. If all else fails I would take it back to the dealer and have them look it over. Better safe than sorry.

Looks like the rear main seal is gone. I've had two local member of the ENCXC who have had the same problem. Dealer covered it with no questions asked. Seems that it's becoming a common problem.

Thanks all, I'll be sure to drop it off with Nissan on Monday. I'll let you know what it was.

I would get that check out. Not normal a "new Truck" looking like that....

Good Luck

Absoulutely correct Xlax, this is not normal for a new truck. What is up with a 2 year old vehicle having to go in for a seal leak? this is not a Ford I bought. I trust that Nissan will do the required repairs, but what happens in 2 years if this occurs again? my $$$. I hope to have the X back soon, it's been two days now and they gave me a PT Cruiser as a rental:eek:
