things have changed over the last few months. forum members come and go. every now and then its good to know whos who and whatnot.

so post a bit about yourself to help every one here get an idea about you.
(Z keep it bike related, no need to post anything from your alter ego)

i'm Blayne, 32yrs old. from sydney Australia. been riding near 10 years.rode dirt bikes when i was really little but that doesn't count. first street bike was a '91 Yamaha FZR250RR, bought a full Dainese kit when i started riding. Second bike was a '96 GSXR750T. Had three years off from riding till i bought my current bike, an '03 Honda 954 FireBlade (last of the real blades)
only just replacing my kit now. good stuff may be expensive but it lasts

got into bikes as a way to commute. commuted for about 4 years and did track days as well. now life sucks due to work and a mortgage so i only get to ride to my second job. not as many track days as i like (about 1 a year)

next bike will hopefully be another GSXR750

Very well, where do I begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink, he would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Some times he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy, the sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. My childhood was typical, summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds, pretty standard really. At the age of 12 I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen, a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum, it's breathtaking, I suggest you try it.

I'm Brian, 22 from Poughkeepsie, NY. I'm a full time business student and work part time at a golf course. my ninja's my first street bike, but i've ben riding dirt bikes and 4 wheelers since i was 14 (which, as mentioned, doesn't really count). i had always wanted a street bike, and once i got old enough for my mother to no longer forbid it, i got one. that's 'bout it.

I'm Manny. I'm 17 years old an recently bought my first bike an 06 gsx-r 600 and I love it. I live in Sacramento, an I am good friends with numerous members of SBF (Darius from darius240z.com started it in the bay). And I am currently spending most of my time on the road getting as comfortable as possible.

Im Sean, 25, live in south Florida and ride a Katana 600 for now. Hopefully Ill be selling it soon and upgrading to either a CBR or GSXR. Im not really sure what to make of jeffcoslackers post and Im pretty surprised no one responded to it. Good stuff. Though the shorn scrotum if not properly maintained might create problems riding on those balmy south florida afternoons...

I'm Tangie. I'm 23 from Pittsburgh, PA. I have been licensed for 4 years, but this is my 5th riding season (speaking of, I better go to renew my license online....) I learned how to ride on my dad's BMW F650GS Dakar, then took the MSF safety course. Since then I've owned a 1991 Suzuki GS500E, and my current bike a 1994 Yamaha Seca II/Diversion/XJ600S - it has multiple personality disorder.

TA DA!
long time no see to all the old peeps (aussie, Z, saturn) and a big hello to all the new faces i'm yet to meet..

well, my name is Lyndon, im 20, male, from melbourne Australia...

I signed up to this forum around 2 years ago when i was 18 with a slight interest in all things roadbikes.. since then i buy around 3 different sportsbikes magazines a month, keep up with motogp results, stare and gawk at every bike going past me on the road while turning green with envy.... that is until last weekend.....

Thats right, it took 2 friggen years, but im on the road with two wheels, with my very own cbr250r..

I've had it for around 5 days, clocked 700k's so far, reached 160kmh, got in and out of one rather sticky situation with a car, had a warning from undercover highway patrol to slow the fuck down, learnt to pop the front up about a foot or so in first gear, improved my braking and cornering speed tenfold, and blown away every local 'hoon' who thought they had a chance against a 250.. ahhhh life is great :) oh and i've had about 5 'nods' from fellow riders, one being a harley biker which was a pleasant suprise..
I've now inspired 3 of my friends as well as my own brother to get bikes and licences before the end of the year! :D :D

and can someone remind me how to post pictures? may as well show off my pride and joy!

Welcome back, I thought you got a bike and moved on from here, good to see you back, hope you stick around. We need more permanent members here though. I also joined this forum around the same time you did, and by the look of it, I figured you'd get your bike before I did. Sounds like you had tons of fun with the bike, but take it a bit slower, don't get bitten by that 3500 miles bug. I hear cops in OZland is less lenient on speeding violations, plus they have speed traps and camera everywhere. I do around 110 mph occasionally on the freeway. As much fun it is, I have to be very wary of the highway patrols, they're not too kind to riders. On faster bikes, it's just so much easier to break speed limits, so you gotta build restraint asap or take it to track. :D

Mac here, 22 in September. I live in South Florida, from Miami to St. Lucie, around that stretch of area I travel often. I started riding back in Jan 2005 on a 1990 Yamaha FZR600. I tried taking MSF in Nov. 2004, paid for the class, but I had trouble working with the clutch at first, the bike was a Honda 125 trainer. But my MSF instructor was an ass, kicked me out, and his boss told me some people aren't meant to ride. He wanted to mooch more money off me, said he'd provide one on one training for x amount of money per hour. So few months later in 2005 I saved the cash, got myself the 600, taught myself for a month. And went back to the same place, and got my paper. At first he pretended not to recognize me, but in the end he snickered and gave me the endorsement after everyone left. I had an evil grin when I accepted the paper, hehe. During the range riding, he kept pulling me over to tell me slow down. This guy has been riding for over 20 years in his Harley, if I went back, I'd wipe him out from the get go on any bike, so shove it up his aaaasss!

:D, Sorry had to get that off my chest. If it were for those guys, I wouldn't be riding now.

After a few months of practice, I got rid of the peaky Yamaha and got a 2002 Suzuki SV650. Put over 4k miles, and come summer 2005, I bought my current bike, 1999 Honda CBR600 F4. At first I was a bit disappointed coming from the SV, it lacked the low end torque. But I adapted to the bike's powerband, and figured it needs to be ridden harder, and learned pick up the speed. It's been good times since, both bikes are great. Around Feb. 2006, I sold the SV.

So I have been riding for year and a half, and hope to do a track day, which is next year around January. I have been in a fall 3 times, 2 low speed low sides, and one 30 mph highside on the street, which gave me some road rash and damaged the bike a bit.

Steel, 22, been riding since i was 7. Had various dirtbikes/quads/trikes as a kid. First roadbike was a '76 honda CB360. That thing was the shizzle, i wish i still had it. For the past 4 years or so I've been riding a suzuki dr650. Fun and all, but once i get the financial backing, i'm going right to an SV1000. Unless they have something bigger by then. Like an SV1200. That would be the bees knees for sure.

oh its a proud proud day (as i wipe a tear from my eye)

Too New To Know

squid? SQUID? i take offence to that! :P

I do occaisionally overdo the speed limit, its only in my home town, which is pretty much swarming with cops trying to crack down on the local idiots (which i suppose includes me) but i only do it on the roads where i know there most likely not going to be, and its only the occaisional twist of the throttle here and there..

And i dont ride around in shorts and tee - i forked out for a decent set up including a Shark helmet (some tri-composite extra safe stuff, i read a report on a guy that lowsided pretty hard with all the impact onto his head, wearing one of these models and he walked away without even a headache) got my first ride in the rain last night and enjoyed it.. except i gotta get some rain-x for my visor or something coz i couldnt see shit!

its hard to keep the respect up once you get a little comfortable with the bike, i overtook on the inside this morning because of some driver oblivious to the speed limit which i knew straight away was a stupid thing to do.. i guess you need the occaisional scare everynow and then to make you wake up and realise its not worth taking risks on the road. anyway this thread wasnt created for me to talk crap in so i'll shutup now :) its good to be back guys, consider me a regular for life :)

oh and last night i came up next to a car with this insanely gorgeous girl in the passenger seat that gave me this cheeky smile and wave while her boyfriend was in the car! hahaha chicks dig it! :D just another of many reasons why bikes are so much better than cars!!!

Hey everyone. My name is Jay.I'm just turned 30 and have been ridding for 12 years. Live in Wisconsin near Milwaukee. My first bike was a 84 Interceptor VF700F. Fun bike for cruisin but no ballz. Well my brother borrowed it one night and I went to vist him in the hospital for a week. rebuilt the bike and loaned it to a friend. He made it about three blocks and some really smart woman pulled in front of him and stopped. After that I gave the bike to a Friend who ownes a cycle shop because it is beyond repair now. Any ways, after that I bought a 91 Ninja zx750. It now sports camiellian purple/green paint and it has a polished frame, swingarm and rims. full stainless exhuast and steel braided brake lines,exct.. Its got the ballz I was looking for but now second gear is broken{ lot of hard miles}. Well, sorry it is such a long post but at least you had something to do well shaving your bag. Just kidding. :iceslolan

Hi, I'm Mike, from Toronto, Canada.
I'm 41 and like many of you, learned to ride as a kid, (10 years old) on a '75 Suzuki TM75 dirtbike. I still have it, and my son, who is now 5 months old, will also learn to ride on it, (providing his mother lets him)

These days, I also have an '81 Can Am 400 (look it up), '87 Honda XR200, '84 Yamaha Maxim 750, and recently sold my '74 CB550.

My next project? I wouldn't mind finding a decent Suzuki RE5, just for the curiosity factor.

would this be a Can Am 400?
