External (on-board) Temperature works Intermettenly

Has anyone experienced the problem where their outside temperature guage is working intermittenly? This only happens in warmer temperatures...spring/summer.
So, when I start out my day, the temperate ramps up to whatever the normal daily temperature is that day. I'd stop a couple minutes down the road for a coffee; and when I re-start my Jeep, the temperature reading is stuck at "0", and will stay that way for about a 1/2 hour or so, and then take it sweet time to get back to normal. By that time, I am already at my destination.
It does not matter how many times I turn it off/on, it continues to do this.
Anyone have any ideas they can share?

First of all, I believe that "0" is really an "O" (stands for OPEN circuit).
It could be that the sensor is starting to go bad, but I would suspect a loose connection somewhere between the temperature sensor and the display unit. Since this only seems to happen in warmer temperatures, I would think that something (like a connector) is expanding and becoming loose.
As some background information, I installed an outside temperature system in my van a while back. You can read about the system here (http://www.my-chevy-venture.com/install-outside-temperature-sensor.html). It will tell you how most of these systems work.
Take Care,

Thanks Greg. I'll have a look at those connections.
