Your favorite browser

Just curious, since this site is not specifically geared towards computers, What is your browser of choice. Mine is firefox, works so much better than IE and have been using it for around a year and love it.

Firefox. Accept nothing else.

edit- I tried firefox once and did not really like it. Might be because I am use to IE. I have heard alot of people that do like it though...

i dont like the layout/appearance. besides, internet explorer does the job just fine.

Anyway guys seriously IE is garbage, and I mean that in a very literal way. It has masive and i mean massive security holes plus it does not conform to any proper W3C web standards.

I've been doing IT babysitting for years and there are a few other guys on this site doind the same thing and they will all tell you the same thing: IE is a ridiculously bad piece of sofware. Use Firefox or Opera.

And even if you don't care about security and think drive by scripts are fun remember again it does not conform to proper web standards. When i design a site I design it in Firefox then spend hours trying to figure out how to make its CSS work arround the fact IE has terrible CSS supoort.

Also, while I think IE finally started using tab browsing...tab browsing!!! No more multiple windows! PLus, the themes and extensions you can get! The layout isn't really any diffferent, but you can make it look better.

Pop-ups are blocked a lot more, although, i think Google toolbar does a good job of that. I've been using it for years, it's the best!

Now Opera has a weird layout.

I tried Opera for a month probably 2 years ago and I just didn't like it. I was use to it, but something about it just :uhoh:

Internet Explorer is the biggest piece of shit out.

Like Neutrino said, MASSIVE security holes. I don't want a browser that can give me a trojan just by browsing a fucking website, thank you.

Firefox has a fantastic layout, minimal real estate used up, plus tabbed browsing + extensions = awesomeness.

what about Safari???? other than that though its firefox for me.

I have 3 browsers on my computer, IE, Firefox, and Netscape. I'd say I use Firefox about 70% of the time,and IE 30% of the time. I haven't really used netscape yet since I downloaded it, mainly because I use the other 2 most of the time and my favorites and bookmarks, and other setting are there. And I am not use to the layout (appearance) . Kind of a habit to just use the other ones I am more familiar with.

Well I guess I just need to take the time to get use to it...When I dl it on my computer I used it for 2 or 3 days and got tired of trying to navigate through it...

How do you make it run fast?

IE, only because netscape went down the tubes when they got in bed with Sun and now netscape is slower to load than IE, micro$oft is evil.

Plus I DL netscape the other week and it wouldn't even run :cwm27: .

Try an extension called FasterFox, it claims to speed Firefox up a bit. I think the effectiveness of hacks and patches like that all depends on where the bottleneck is - bandwidth, CPU usage, free RAM, network conditions etc.

So you don't really save any time any where, it just goes somewhere you are less likely to notice it.

Just loading windoz, then loading firefox will have the same effect, these bits only need to be loaded once, so you can load it all, surf a little porn, cum on your seat, close firefox, have a clean up, then reload firefox and it will load very quickly, IMO faster than a 15 year old with a high speed connection.

Ahhh, I always thought the complaints about the speed where its load times.
Iv never had a problem with its page load times.

I dl firefox and I sorta like it, just going to take some time to get use to.

I played with the tabbing thing. Ctrl-t opens the new window. I like that feature...

seriously, i've been firefox for like 3 years now, there is no other way of life.

pff.. Opera's the shit, firefox's just too slow.

I use crazy browser.. pretty good, has tabs and you know, popup blocker and whatever else..

Alot better than IE.. and i've been using it for about.. 3+ years now.

Old explore blowed a gut so I had change to Firefox with Thunderbird.

Plus most scripts aren't targeted for Firefox so spyware and all that junk is less of an issue. Don't say Firefox is more secure. If it had the majority share you'd see the same crap as IE. The thing is it doesn't have the market share so it's not goign to be target as much. If IE and FF both had a 50/50 market share then you'd hear a lot more abotu Firefox security holes.

A TV show put the two to a test. One side of the room had 2 computers, one with IE and the other with FireFox. The other side 2 hackers, one after IE the other after FireFox. It took the IE guy less the a min. to do it. Firefox guy couldn't get in. Case and point!

Opera is the way to go. I've been using it for years I tried out the Firefox when it first came out but it wasn't as robust as Opera back then, maybe I'll have to take a look at the current version.

I migrated from Mosaic to Netscape to Opera and only use IE for my bank web site which runs some proprietary Microsoft crap.

Yeah, well I'm a seasond internet user going back to the days when browser's were just a novelty and most everything was ftp. My only problem with Opera is that they have tried to dumb it down in the 9.xx versions. Not as much user controls over the settings. I'm just glad to see most of the forum users posting here getting away from IE and all the associated security risks, and the propietary shit Microsoft adds to maintain their monopoly.

I used AOL FOREVER, 'cus thats what we have on out desktop. My cousin gave me his old iBook G3 last year so I use firefox 'cus SAFARI is for the weak.

I like Firefox, until you have to run anything involving Java or Flash. Some pages don't look right also, so you just sorta experiment and learn which ones don't so you know to view them in IE next time.

I use IE, it does what I want, when I want so I'm sticking with I.E. I.E,FTFW
