General Question about Springs

Hey guys. My dad drives on 01 Toyota Sequoia and is in need of new shocks/springs. Just a quick question about spring life. We arent going to pay someone to install suspension parts for us, and are curious if springs NEED to be changed when installing new shocks. Basically I just want to know if springs wear out the same as your shocks do, like if they will start to compress under normal wear and tear, which would require them to be changed along with the shocks. I am kinda thinkin that they do, but my dad just wants to be sure. Any thoughts would be helpful.

Just a note: I just got done buying my KYB-AGX/Pro-Line kit for my car, and I will put some picks up after i get them installed.

can't imagine that they would. however when you are in a car that rides like a boat, springs couldn't hurt.

no you dont need new springs ecpesialy on a new truck just replace the shocks thats all. if the mechanic tries to tell you that you need new springs he's trying to rip you off. If the springs needed to be replaced yould know.

Hey again, just thought I would post and say I put my drop kit on my car the other day. The fronts went on breezy, but I had a little trouble with the rears...not so much with the install, but with the overall assembly of them. I didnt realize that the dust shield actually needed to be saved from the stock setup and reused on the new setup....needless to say I was having a little trouble with the shock pushing through the top of the strut mount and hitting the back hatch lid. It took me a minute to figure it out, but I was able to remidy the situation with little to no cussing or throwing of tools. My stock shocks were SHOT to hell (I could very easily compress them to bottom out, and then there was absolutely NO rebound to them, they just stayed down, and when I did that to the rears, all the fluid just blasted out of them and I laughed.) The car is SOOO stiff right now, any residential road feels like Im doing the Baha endurance run, but when I take high G load turns she hugs the road like a mofo. I love it, and the back has squated quite nicely. Now I just need stiffer sway bars, but they will have to wait until I get a much needed clutch and flywheel (my next major purchase...give me a month and a half). I love the setup, I just hope it all settles in a little so it isnt QUITE so nasty to drive around town. It has also cured a lot of the understeer which is very nice.

Thats fine, I realized that my friend turned the dampening up to 4, so I turned it down to 3 and it helped a little. It's either not so bad, or I am just getting used to it so it's all good. I love the no wheel hop and slight oversteer I get now, for sure makes things a little more interesting.
