does anyone know how to cycle through the interior lighting programs for a 1997 grand prix, I didnt know I could do this, and i did it on accident while trying to reprogram my keyless entry. I know there are 4 different settings (indicated by chimes)for the interior lights, and i need to know how to get back into the bcm to set it back to position 1. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Go back to like you are programming the RKE. You must be in programming mode.
However, for interior lighting programming you use the interior lamps thumbwheel. Take the thumbwheel all the way to right then back slightly to the left. Each time you do this it will chime. You do this until you hear the one chime you want which is Mode 1. Mode 1 overrides the delayed illumination and the interior lights will come on on off at the same time a door is opened or closed only.
Upon completion be sure to properly exit programming mode.

thanks for the help, that did indeed work. ALthough now i still can reprogram my keyless. I did all the steps, and when its supposed to chime after you close a door, it chimes after you open AND close the door, followed by more chimes, 3 sets of 3, and then nothing. any idea what this is about?

Are you running a similar procedure like in the link?

I am asssuming it is failing after steps 6 & 7. The 3 chimes in sets of 3 indicates some problem with the system. There should only be 1 confirmation chime indicating it has entered the programming/diagnostic mode. Hard to say what the cause is. To find the problem it may have to be put on a Tech II and see if any body/chassis related BCM codes are present like BXXXX.

Ya, I followed those steps to the letter. The chiming starts after step 6, and before i open any doors in step 7. I waited until the chimes stopped to perform step 7, and i get dings when i open the door and when i close it. I did get the feeling like it was trying to convey some sort of trouble code to me. I will bring it to the dealership sometime next week and post the results, just in case you run across someone with the same problem.
You have been a lot of help, Bnaylor, and i appreciate it.
Thanks.
