cleaning the MAF sensor

I have a 96 LT blazer and on cleaning the MAF sensor...is it the really fine mesh looking stuff that i wanna clean? or that little tiny thing in the tube...im not sure what to call it...just can i have instructions on how to do it...ive tried to look it up elsewhere and ive got 2 different answers. pics would be nice but if you have none...its ok. Thanks

Unless I've been doing it wrong you want to clean the three little resisor-like things between the posts

The 2 little bittie wires with the little bittie resisters is what need cleaned.
Take it off and look in the tube for them.
CRC makes a MAF sensor cleaner in a spray can.
Just spray and blow dry and spray again a couple of times.

ok you kno how on the air tube thing...there are 2 things that plug into it...one plugs right into the air meter dealy....and the other is smaller...is it the smaller one that needs to be pulled out and cleaned? how do i get it out?

The smaller one (two wires running to it i think) is a temp sensor. The one with three wires is the MAF. Unplug it, take off your air box lid (like you're changing the air filter) and follow it towards the firewall to a pipe clamp. Loosen this and remove the air filter lid. This will reveal the front of the MAF. Loosen the next pipe clamp along the intake tube--now you can pull out the MAF. All this talk about it, I think I might go do it myself. If you still need help let me know and I'll take picures.

So I wanna take off the mesh looking screen and spray what is directly behind it? (the 3 little resistor looking things)?can i take off the screen and leave the rest in place and spray down the tube kinda?

You got it. And give the wires (and the screen, what the hey) a VERY GENTLE scrub with a real soft toothbrush.

Remove the sensor from air intake hose. And look on the back side. And also if the sensor bolts to the housing sometimes you have to remove it from housing to see the little wires.
It is a lot safer just to spray with proper cleaner them than to rub them.
Why are you cleaning it? Any codes or engine running problems?

no problems or codes...i was just told to clean it because you should...also...the spray is kinda high powered lol...how will that not hurt the thin wires yet rubbing them will?

I asume you found them.
Rubbing them can break them. The spray just cleans.
