My daughter's '00 Grand Cherokee bumper has chalky look and color is gone. I have searched and found no threads discussing this problem. I have since noticed this on many Cherokees going down the road. Is there a fix or is replacement the only option. Thanks for any help....

the white powdery look is oxydation. that can sometimes be buffed out. you could also try a rubbing compound and try rubbing it out yourself by hand. this sometimes leaves swirl marks in the finish. body shops ussually don't charge much to buff small area like a bumper. other option is to repaint.

There are several threads addressing this same issue in the Wrangler forums, apparently the wheel flares fade badly on some model years.

try cleaning it up with some prepsol or something similar let it dry out then put some quality spray wax on it and continue to add the wax about once a month after that. but the cleaning before hand is fairly important if you want the wax to stay.

Mothers makes this product. http://www.mothers.com/products/productcatalog/productpix/06108.jpg
I've used it on several bumpers including 1 Grand Cherokee with good results.
It often takes 2 coats
