I read a post from a really great user page (Driveline Carrier Repair) (http://bmwe32.masscom.net/sean750/diffMount/diffMount.htm) and I thought I had the answer to my problem. I checked and it's not the same issue.
When I shift to reverse or from reverse to drive there is a slight clunk if I let my foot off the brake to soon and not allow it to fully shift. It also makes the noise when driving at times when I accelerate.
Any thoughts?

Here's a couple of things to check:
1) Transmission rubber mount near tailshaft (where the drive shaft enters the trans.)
2) rear lower control arm bushings
3) C/V joints on rear axles
4) U-joints on drive shaft
5) Differential fluid
Hopefully you know what each of these things are, so you can check them yourself. Its usually a bad rubber bushing in one of these areas. :disappoin
