I lost pretty bad....

I was on my way to walmart last night when a was being tailed by a silver SRT-4. It had straight pipes, CAI, a SSQ blowoff and maybe other things as well.

the kid was about 17 and he was tailing me as I led him down a one lane street. I down shifted to 2nd and slammed on it, the kid took off and went into the opposite lane to my left where on coming traffic goes, lucky for him there wasnt any. He passes my and cuts in from of me as he shifts. When he did I could smell something from his exhaust fumes and I yell out "wow Someone is running a bit lean!" I also notice he is running on 2 doughnuts in the back.

I pull up next to him at a red and tell him his car sounds nice, cause it did, and I was off on my way to walmart. I shook my head as I left and said to my g/f and friend "too bad that if the kid puts one more part on that car, it's going to blow up. And he shouldnt be racing on doughnuts."

My g/f looked at me and ask "shouldnt you have told him that?"

I shrugged, "let him find out the hard way especially if he is willing to go into an on coming traffic lane to win a race."

So I lost the race, but in a month if I see him again I know I wont lose cause that car wont be running right. To bad too

if he had a boost controller he was probably runnin around 20+ psi,, i kno the srt-4 drivers around here do. valiant attempt tho, srt-4's take really well to mods. i think with just a few hundred bucks they can run mid-upper 13's fairly consistently.

yeah they take well, but the kid just bought it used with the mods already there and smelled lean. maybe the previous owner sold it for a reason

thats because the drivers of skittles are weak....just like the wrx and evo drivers....either they cant drive them to potential or they drive them to the ground simple as that....

Its not that they cant drive them, its that its a cheap car with way too much power for its chasis. The Neon wassnt built with performance in mind. It was built to be a cheap economic commuter. You take a car with absolutely no performance orrientation and drop 3 times the horse power its supposed to have and you end up with a ticking time bomb!
sure its fast in a straight line BUT the wheels are too narrow, the car is too nose heavy, the wheel base is way too short, the brake disks too small and the frame too tall.

The Evo and the STI are performance vehicles built with all performance aspects in mind since thier very first blue prints.

even with my boost leak I could run 14.1 @100 mph with a 2.2 60ft on streets all day in 100+ degree weather....nothing to brag about but if you call a srt a cheap commuter car with a more powerful engine crap then what is a built civic or jetta or cavi and the list goes on with sport compact cars....any commuter car with a powerful engine can be a ticking time bomb so whats your point....whats funny about this is before you got your gto and your boy drifty was on your racing team this was never metioned...hmmmmm ....oh by the way my buddy has a ACR just like me and he ripps on the autox track with his narrow tires, heavy nose, short wheel base, small brakes, and tall frame.....I wonder why the skittle did so well on the car and driver shoot out....dispite it being a weak car..

Like I said, lowest I have seen a stock srt run is a 13.6. And the fastest GTO Ive seen is a 13.2. I wouldnt be surprised if people were pulling 13 flats though.
