CAI dilema

i have an '05 SE and i took off the covers and all that unnecessary covering crap and i couldnt figure out if the CAI is going to fit all the way to the bottom without cutting some parts to make it fit. If i get an AEM CAI, am i going to have to alter some things to make the intake fit or should it fit fine?

also some questions about bypass valves. Is that going to fit also without any alterations? Do you think bypass valves are completely necessary?

OR.... should i just go with a SRI -_-;;
I just wanna do whatever is best which i've heard is the CAI but also the SRI will be so much simpler and cheaper... these stupid pros and cons are pissing me off... haha...

any help or links to any where smart to buy... i'd very much appreciate!~

all the CAI's from my understanding will require you to cut the hole bigger for the piping to fit. and yes bypass valves are a waste of time.

if you're worried about hydrolock with a CAI then just get the Injen SRI. any other SRI will be worthless basically b/c they're just basically filters right by the throttle body. the Injen SRi has piping goin all the way to the hole between the battery and the fuse box. b/c of that location its isolated mostly from the engine heat and still sucking cold air from the hole. its only like a couple of hp less than any of the CAI's. hope this helps.

I agree completely. Also, to install a BPV you have to cut the pipe somewhere to put it in between 2 sections.

I have an Injen SRI on mine and I love it. It looks great, sounds great, and you don't have to modify anything--direct bolt-on. I got mine slightly-used, but you can get new ones for about $155 from a member on newtiburon.com. His username is R100s. Look in the "parts for sale" thread and you'll find it.

ive had my mind set on a CAI and i really want the AEM. do you suggest i get one for $230 brand new or one off ebay... is ebay reliable for quality?

also, does anyone have a link or anything for a DIY CAI for an '05? Preferibly with pictures. I wanna get a better idea of what materials i need and what i need to do before i purchase it. thanks for the input!
