I own an 86 Cherokee Pioneer 2.5L 4 cylender, the body has minor defects and the engine is in exceptional running condition for having 165,000 miles. The only problem i have is, well actually two problems, both in some way related. My power steering pump bearings are going bad, i can tell by the squeeking, and the bearings of my air conditioning pump are also going bad, again i was tipped off by the squeeking. I have a camping trip coming up and im worried since everything is on the same belt, is there anything i can do short of replacing both mechanisms to delay the pumps from going out?

$13 and two hours replaced my power steering pump the last weekend. The local pick-a-part junk yard had the pump and it's got me through to now. Next month I'll replace it with a new one.
Otherwise ensure that your belt is strong. ie no cracks, splits, or frays. Unless the bearings are really sceaming and smells like an electrical fire chances are they won't go out this weekend... wait I just noticed when you started this thread... did you already go on your trip?
